Etsy Fee Calculator (2026)
Etsy advertises 6.5%. US sellers actually pay about 11% before ads — this calculator stacks every fee in the right order, for your country, with Offsite Ads on, off, or spread realistically across all your orders.
Per-order breakdown
“Etsy's true take” = total platform fees ÷ what the buyer paid. Compare it with the 6.5% headline.
Etsy's fees, in the order they hit
Listing fee — $0.20 per listing, charged when you publish (and again at every renewal or auto-renew, and per item on multi-quantity sales). It is billed in USD; sellers in other currencies may see a small FX variance.
Transaction fee — 6.5% of everything the buyer paid for the item: price plus shipping plus gift wrap. The “free shipping” guarantee era is over, but the fee still applies to whatever shipping you charge.
Payment processing — varies by country. US: 3% + $0.25 on the full amount including any sales tax Etsy collects. UK: 4% + £0.20, plus a 0.48% regulatory operating fee; Canada adds 0.5%; France 1.14%. Pick your country above — this is the line most calculators get wrong.
Offsite Ads — 15% or 12%, capped at $100 per order. Charged only when an order is attributed to Etsy's ads on Google or social media within 30 days of a click. Shops under $10k/year can opt out; above that it's mandatory at 12%. Because most orders aren't attributed, the honest way to price it in is “spread it” mode: full fee × the share of your orders it actually touches.
Currency conversion — 2.5% when the buyer's payment currency differs from your shop currency.
The $30 reality check
A $30 item with free shipping, sold by a US shop with no Offsite Ad: Etsy takes $0.20 + $1.95 + $1.15 = $3.30 — exactly 11%. The same order attributed to an Offsite Ad at 15% adds $4.50, taking Etsy's cut to $7.80 — 26% of what the buyer paid, before you've bought materials or postage. If your prices were set against “6.5%”, they are wrong twice over.
FAQ
Does Etsy charge the transaction fee on shipping? Yes — on shipping and gift wrap charges too, which is why “free shipping” (folding postage into the price) doesn't change your fees, only where they sit.
Why is my processing fee higher than 3% + $0.25? Etsy calculates processing on the total including sales tax it collects and remits. On orders shipped to high-tax states, the effective rate creeps up.
How do I lower my Etsy take rate? The levers that actually move it: keep Offsite Ads off until you're over the mandatory threshold (if you're under $10k), price shipping accurately instead of absorbing it silently, and remember the $0.20 listing fee punishes very cheap items — bundling beats discounting.
