The same $30 sale, on all six platforms
One product — $30 price, $8 cost, 1.2 lb — sold six ways. The gap between the best and worst platform is $3.50 per sale, before you've changed anything about the product.
| Platform | Platform fees | You keep | Margin |

| Etsy | $3.30 | $9.94 | 33.1% |
| Amazon FBA | $9.26 | $7.53 | 25.1% |
| eBay | $4.48 | $7.50 | 25.0% |

Why Shopify “wins” — and when it doesn't
Shopify takes the least because it provides the least: no marketplace traffic (the 10% ad assumption is doing heavy lifting, and real Shopify ad costs are often higher), no fulfillment network, no built-in trust. Amazon FBA's $9+ fee stack buys all three. The honest reading of this table is not “sell on Shopify” — it's “know what each platform's cut purchases, and price for the one you're on.”
